/ Communication and Coordination with the US Administration and Congress
USISC realizes the importance of working closely with the US Administration, the White House, the Senate., and the House of Representatives to further its agenda and identifying ways and means to support execution of commitments made.
To do so, USISC works in close collaboration with Federal bodies such as:
- Members of Armed Services Committee
- House Committee on Foreign Affairs
- United States Senate Committee on Armed Services
In 2004, the then Senators founded the Senate India Caucus as a bipartisan coalition and forum for legislators to work closely with Indian government officials and Indian-Americans in promoting US-India bilateral relations and to candidly discuss issues of common interest. The need for stronger US-India relations became apparent as global Cold War frictions eased and new, strategic partnerships and alliances commanded renewed significance. Strengthening this relationship remains highly critical to US interests. In recent years, the United States, the world's oldest democracy, and India, the world's largest democracy, have shared a common commitment to freedom, representative government, free market principles, and winning the global war on terror.
Today, the Senate India Caucus, comprised of 34 bipartisan members, continues to build upon this common tradition of democracy by supporting regional and global security and prosperity for both nations. Current Members:
- Senator John Cornyn, co-founder, and co-chair
- Senator Mark Warner, co-chair
